Hi one of the biggest challenges known to human beings when it comes to our personal productivity is in relation to our inability to take certain decisions, make certain decisions and take certain actions whenever it is actually required. And I know that there are many folks out there who deal with a similar challenge, who have the problem of putting off things, delaying things, procrastinating on those important areas where we shouldn’t be in the first place. So if you are somebody who is dealing with a similar issue, then this video is absolutely for you and I can assure you that if you stay till the earth you’re going to pick up some mind boggling idea, some better technique, some methods by which you will be able to overcome this habit, this behavior of procrastination once for all.
So without procrastinating any further on this video, let’s dive straight into the essence of what I want to share, starting with the topic itself which is about what is procrasedation.
Procrastination is a human behavior. It’s a human tendency of delaying things, putting off things for the future, sometimes due to known as well as unknown reasons too. The question is Why do people procrastinate?
People procrastinate because of similar reason and all of those reasons. But all of those reasons can be boiled down to one single factor. And that is our fear of failure.
We don’t want to fail. We don’t want to show the softer side offers to the outside world. We don’t want to make ourselves vulnerable.
By any chance we want to be accepted, we want to get recognized, we want to be appreciated by people. This is what human beings want because we want to fit in with the world and that’s why people go with the flow. People do not challenge the status scope, but the ultimate reality is that you grow and you progress in life when you are actually challenging this statu score. When you are putting yourself out of the comfort zone when you are doing something which is tough and difficult and unknown to you which you might not have done ever in your life, that’s when you grow in life.
Now let’s come to the second part of the video which is about giving you the techniques and the methodologies of dealing with this challenge of procrastination.
So the first method first tip that I want to give you is of putting first thing first. Put the first thing first, which is basically about identifying what are the one or two things? What are your non-negotiables? Let’s say in a day if you are doing ten things in a day or maybe five or six or seven or eight or ten days things you’re doing in a day, you go to identify what are those one and two things be which are non-negotiable which are sacrosanct, which you must be doing religiously. Let’s say, for example, if you are in sales, then your non-negotiable as a salesperson is one is prospecting, the other could be meeting with customers or talking to your clients every day. So likewise you got to identify in connection to your work life as to which are some of your non-negotiators and apply this concept operate principle in relation to that particular area of your life.
So Pareto principle teaches a Pareto concept.
Teacher teaches us this principle of 8. 20 rule which says that 80 percentage of of results come from our 20 percentage of our activities so we have to identify which are those 20 percentage of our activities that gets us maximum result so that you can maximize your outcome as a result of working more on those areas.
That is my first tip to you. Let’s come to the second tip that can help you to get over this challenge of procrastination.
Which is by writing down Your Big goals explicitly along with pictures. Write Down Your Big Goals along with pictures.
And what you need to do is you have to take out your big goals, your outcome, whatever that you have in your mind, onto the paper, onto the book, or onto the journal so that you are able to look at it every day.
And when you’re looking at it every day it goes into your subconscious mind and your subconscious mind will start accepting that as your reality of your life, and you will start acting the part of that person. Let’s say your affirmation could be, I’m a confident speaker, I’m an expert in XYZ, think I’m an excellent writer, I’m a successful working professional. I’m a successful business, womanman or man or whatever that you are along with having a picture. So you cut out the picture of your idle self, how you want to look like sometime in the future, or maybe you can draw it out. And why do we need to do that exercise? Is because we all think in pictures.
Let’s say, for example, if I’m saying that, think of an elephant now what you have in your mind, you have a picture of an elephant in your mind. If I say that, think of your dad, your mom, your sister, think of your idled holiday spot. What do you have in your mind? You have the picture of that situation, or of that person, or of that place.
So write down your big gos along with pictures. That is my second point. Let’s come to the third point that can help you to destroy procrastination from your life, which is by making a 21 days plan.
Once you have listed your activities.
Once you have got your affirmations and pictures then the third step is about making a 21 days plan. Now this is going to be completely action-packed where you are without thinking you are going to going to take the required action. You’re not going to have your judgment, you’re not going to think much on this because what you need to do is what you need to be like is you need to be spontaneous? Do not take much effort in thinking what will be the result because if you are conscious you might not get started in the first place. Now the idea is to reprogram your mind, your mind with.
Annuity which you might have been putting off up until now now when you start doing it, that’s when you are contradicting the fears which you may be carrying in your mind.
And when you do that repeatedly you’re going to reprogram your mind with a new behavior.
Your new behavior will start becoming your habit over a period of time, and your habit becomes your character in some time. So 21 days is not going to promise you that you’re going to become an expert, but yes, this is going to give you the expedience of that success. You’re going to have that taste of success in 21 days in the form of experiencing as to what it means to you what it’s going to mean to you if you are going to continue this journey for let’s say for two months or six months or one year’s time, and that will inspire you from insight to keep going without stopping. And that’s how we all grow. So that is my third point, third method or third technique that you can start applying in your life.
Now let’s come to the 4th point the 4th method which can help you to eliminate procrastination, or this which can help you to get over this habit of putting off things delaying things in your life, that is by doing some physical exercise. Your as somebody said your your health. Good health is a crown on a healthy person’s head which only a sick person can see.
We all compromise on our health. Sometimes we say that I’m busy or I don’t have time. I’m stressed out I’m doing my work, because of which I cannot to go for the workout. I cannot go to gym and I think these are excuses because there is nothing more important in your life than your health. Because if you are taking care of your health, you will be taking care of your mind. It’s all connected, it’s all interconnected if healthy mind can only stay in the healthy body. If you have a healthy body, your mind will be healthy. You will be emotionally, you will be healthy. You are going to be spiritually. You are going to be connected with who you are as a person. That’s when you’re going to bring out the brilliance of who you are out in the world when you are in a good physical shape and when you are physically fit. And not only that, your brain is going to release some happy hormones. Some happy hormones like dopamine, endorphins.
Serotonin. Oxyose and these are the pleasure hormones which your brain releases when you are doing the workout, when you are doing physical workout and when you are in the action mode which in turn helps you to build that resistance against stress which helps you to build resistance against negative emotions, negative thoughts and helps you to become more lively and become more vibrant as a person. So physical exercise is a 4th point. Let’s come to the 5th.
Step or the 5th technique which can help you to eliminate procrastination from your life is when you eliminate distractions, eliminate all the distractions we are living in this such a noisy world where we where everything around us is buzzing in some way. There are so many people, there are so many technologies using. We are accessing so many social media platforms, we get so many messages, so many notifications, so many updates on these social media applications and these are all distractions. These are all time waserss so eliminate some of those distractions and also the most important thing. There are many people who waste their quality time by watching television. Watching news do not watch news. There is nothing called news anymore in this world. All the news channels have become noise channels, they are all selling you the propaganda of some political party. All are sold out and there is nothing called quality news anymore. All are commercialized so let’s not waste our time by watching news. Nobody has become wiser by any extent by watching news and these are soap operas that we watch. Yes, you can decide for yourself as to what kind of program or what program you need to watch and.
Decide it and schedule it and watch it accordingly. If at all you are somebody who is really fond of watching programs on television, so these are my five tips that can help anyone.
